This time its a Raleigh Grifter XL

after having a few beers last Friday night and looking on ebay saw this XL for £40.00 and won it....had to travel to Lincoln to collect....not to bad just over an hour away from Peterborough

Really pleased with the bike....the frame is December 81 with the rear hub October 80......as you can see it is missing the rear mudguard and the original rear rack (the one fitted at the moment comes off a RSW)...also the original seat is missing

Paintwork is in really good condition......I will design my own and replace the main top tube "Grifter XL" decals (will be designing and making a full set while I'm at it)

also needs new "Super Grip" tyres

I think this bike will be sorted and up and running before the Mk1 I brought a few weeks ago

These "Grifter" bikes are addictive

Nice looking XL.. a version worth saving... now, red line tyres(that are on it now.. £8 each) not supergrip.... I have a really good rear mudguard and a good rear rack... in Northampton too... let me know if your interested :-D

thanks for the offer.....I've sourced the rear mudguard, rack and saddle luckily.....have been working on the decals for it......have been working on designing the decals today and here is the result so far.....might need a bit of tweaking hera and there but I think they are about there......would welcome your comments from you purists out there

Great job on the decals, the XL's looks really good when there mint.

the fade is a bit fierce- i'd say they are quite digital compared to the originals which i would think were designed by hand.




these were some i did with a soft brush in photoshop, i started with a automatic fade and thought that it wasnt quite the ticket

Just got myself an July 1982 xl which got for free yes I said free from a guy from Leeds but it's totally in bits a few things are missing like both wheels, and the fixings for the bottom bracket and the stem fixings I need help on those on we're to get them hope any of u can help many thanks grifter fanatics
