Well guys, here it is. My completed Mk1 just like I used to have. It`s taken me about a week from start to finish. All I need to do is get the twist shifter working at a later stage. I wanted a simple and reasonable resto and I think i`ve achieved that. Thanks for the help . Here are some pics from it`s first outing of many to come. What a unique and interesting bike the Grifter is, just love it .

Great paint job and you cleaned the original parts up really nicely. I would love to see pics of it in the sunshine to see how the paint reacts. I love the metallic red Mk1s. What month/year is your bike? I see you have pointed rear dropouts, triangle's on the forks and wrap round flaps but no second bridge. We call these oddities or stock room bikes where raleigh used early pre march 77 frame/forks and parts and stamped them at a later date. Great Mk1 well done mate. (now lets see some pics of your bike with the nice ozzy scenery in the background)

Thanks again guys . carling I see you found my latest pics in "Readers Rides" sunbathing away, which is at the address below. raleighgrifter.proboards.com/thread/4522/completed-Mk1-out-maiden-voyageWow I never realized all that stuff, you really know your Grifters . Not sure of the year, the frame is stamped "NG8310531", does that mean it`s an 83? I will post a pic of it in the Grifter Registry.

Well NG8 is may 78. I knew it was an early frame stamped at a later date. They added the second bridge after the frames were built so this one was left off to accommodate the rear brake and mudguard.
