Balls. I can't believe I didn't notice that.
Oh well - that'll be another part I need then! Super Grifter front wheel anyone?

Thinking about this, I'm not really in it for the potential resale value of the bike once finished. That said, my head tells me to go with originality, and paint it red with the Stars decals, and replace the front wheel and rear mudguard to suit.
The problem with doing that is that it doesn't really float my boat much - I prefer the Mk1 decals - I really don't like the Mk2 decals - I like the Union Jack ones. Plus, I like the Mk1 colours - the metallic blue and red, and even the later Metallic Red colour all appeal to me more than the flat blue or red of the Mk2.
So - I'm going to forget about the origins of the frame, and go for either Steel Blue or Metallic Red. I now have a Mk1 seat, but I'll probably stick with the Mk2 handlebars - the foam is good, and they're quite wide enough.
Still on the hunt for Mk1 mudguards, and either a Mk1 or Mk2 front wheel.

I've just had an idea, and I'm really needing someone to talk me out of it.
A Mk1 spec bike, per the original plan, but with paint similar to the pic below, and Super Grifter decals -

Just seen the price of the Super Grifter decal. I might be able to get someone local to make up a custom set of decals based on the original Mk1 design - except in gold / black.
Now that would be nice...........

Let your imagination go nuts, it's not as if you are doing this to a mint original one . Make it into something you'd really like. Actually i can see a lot of potential in using ideas and finishes from that Triumph bike on the actual bike project

Tan grips and seat can be found trawling the tinter-web, i bought tape and a Charge spoon seat. Be patient and they'll turn up.

I agree a custom would be better than trying to turn a Mk2 into a Mk1, the frame is all wrong. I'm looking forward to the before and after pics.
