Thats about what I paid for my red Mk1 in similar nick (although a few more parts missing). It should come up really nice without any major engineering. Do you know if the hub is ok?

Hold on. Is it not the done thing to turn a blue grifter into a red grifter? I've all ways wanted my red one back and bought this to realise that dream if you know what I mean. I need to give it a good clean to see what it actually looks like before I make that decision now!

The original paint looks far too good to paint red mate, looks too nice to restore to be honest

in my eyes an original bike is always better than a restored one . restored takes all the history away at the end ov the day its what ever floats your boat I think the bike will clean up great with a bit ov elbow grease

Whats the point of buying a bike if your not going to restore it to its factory settings to look like new again? As i can see in this forum loads have done it whether they have done it themselfs but certainly paid for others to help them out ie paint/rechrome etc...
