Spent today shot blasting it






Thats all pics i have for now

The only things i need to finish this build is a set of forks and the decals which i have covered really.

im going to rebuild the wheels with stainless spokes and anodized alloy nipples

ill respray everything and new decals, work shall resume on it tomorow

Started getting the rust off the rims







I found that i had 2 original Raleigh innertubes with not a single puncture



New Super Grips, still have my old ones, but id rather use new ones they will make the bike look much better

Thanks mate,I machine polished them with autosol after the G3, ive stripped 2 Grifters to build a nice Grifter so just about all the parts are mint condition , and ill restore it to a high standard like always.

I used halo spokes and forged alloy nipples.

Update:

Bars finished


Cut a new pad off a set of Mk2 bars





Got some Raleigh Brake cables for it 8 quid a piece


Cleaned the spoke guard up, its a little dented but meh..

Alright, i zinc primered it today, LOTS of zinc, when armageddon comes this bike will survive it..




And i have it here with me now all painted, im going to flatten it and polish it up and ill get some pictures here later tonight, also im getting the stickers in the post tomorow and getting the freshly built wheels tomorow, so stay tuned !!

Heres pics after flatting and polishing, i matched the colour to the forks and it was %99 perfect, but it looks a bit dark after ive painted it, maybe its because its indoors....

anyway..








It is a bit dark innit.. ill check it next to the original paint on the old forks tomorow !

Thanks guys, its almost done i have everything there for it except forks, then i need to paint them once i get a set. But this one wont take long to finish now

Thanks, i cant wait until its done so i can have a ride, when i got it the crank was falling off and the gears were wrecked and i couldnt even ride it, so once its built it will be very fun to have a proper ride of it !

All i need to finish it is the forks, and im just waiting until the end of the week till i get some spare cash and im buying them off carling.

i also forgot to put the spotlamp bracket on so i will do that tomorow.

cotterpins came..didnt fit, so after about an hour of filing them down i eventually got them to fit, and only one of my R nuts would fit on them.

Took it out for a little test ride today, still need to fit brakes and gears, paint front mudguard, find a nut and bolt for the seat clamp and highten the seat up. and a few other bits n bobs.

Someone asked me how much i want for it when i took it outside and it got me thinking how much its worth, my dads idiot mate says 100 pound is all it'll be worth, dont tell me hes right ??

Bike still isnt finished, but i went round my mates and we went "Grifting"

Hes got an 82' blue Grifter in amazing original condition and a 77' Metallic Red Grifter with all the 76 parts and frame with pointy dropouts

Hello, nice bikes you have there. Can you help me please. I've just bought a Grifter but the stand tube has been cut off the frame underneath the bottom bracket. I can easily make one and weld it back on but don't the dimensions etc - Can you please help me with this ?
