Fair play to you for taking such a project. Are you going to make a list of parts you need? maybe put a wanted list up.

I've made a plan as to both what i need and what i'm going to do with it. i've already bought the stickers, front crank set and other parts. The plan is this, seeing as how so little is left as well as the cost of original stuff this is going to become a custom project but with a nod to its original incarnation. First thing is to collect the parts and then 'dry build' it before a full strip down and refinishing. This won't be done overnight and so watch this space guys.

Parts have started to be collected and so today i made a start with its 'dry build' I want to make sure that everything fits perfectly before it's painted/polished. Better to do tweaks and such like now rather than later. On go the wheels, brake levers, gear change, early 60s 'Heron' chainset and Mk1 rear mudguard. more goodies are on there way.

It kind of makes me laugh a bit, not so long ago I was getting decent Mk2's for a tenner and really nice Mk1s for around £75. I used to give bikes like this away!! Just shows you how prices have gone up. I'm looking forward to before and after pics on this project.

More items have been purchased over the last two days. This rear light came from an Autojumble at a car show in luton yesterday. Today i bought these items from a long established cycle shop here in Norwich My 'to get' list is getting a lot shorter.

Stripped down, looking less like a Grifter. The usual problem of a seized handlebar has reared it's head and on Monday it's going to a mates to be removed (hopefully) but this has been continually soaked in WD40.

Hopefully you can get the handlebars out, at worse you cut the handlebars and save the forks seen as the foam is missing.

That is a plan, but with luck the bars can be persuaded from their home.oh, and the stand needs removing. Wheels are being stripped then it's to the chromers, if these are too rough to save that way then i've another plan
