Parts were Etch primered at the blasters, personally i've never etch primed metal parts. As a former paintsprayer for over 20 years i had no problem so long as you strip clean the metal beofre priming. Cellulose primer 'pulls' itself into the blasted metal surface.

Frame etc went to the painters last Monday, as the chrome will take 6 weeks to do i'm in no hurry to get it back. Instead i've been collecting more items. 'R' nuts NOS Poly Cap Headset and Crank bearings And courtesy of Raleighdaz a NOS Chainset and plastic Chainguard The list of parts needed is getting smaller, thankfully

A request..........today i received in the post the clips that hold the gear cable to the frame. Three are normal 'sprung' types but one is a bolt-on variety, can someone please post on here a close up of this one on their bike so i can see how it goes on. As i bought mine pretty much robbed of most parts these weren't on when i got it.
Thanks

The one with the nut and bolt bud goes at the back by the rear wheel and holds the gear cable in :-)

There isn't an exact location mate, the fulcrum clips position can be moved backwards and forwards when you adjust the gears.

Just in case you thought i'd disappeared fear not i've been here. The frame is still at my painter friend, he had a work accident in June and it has hampered his work, he has a back log BUT my bike should be done in the next two weeks. The wheels are at the local bike shop for rebuilding, the original rims were toast due to the corrosion being too deep, i sourced another pair, one off ebay and the other via member 'chrisgrifter' (really appreciate your help mate) The build HAS come to a halt through these items but once back it'll soon come together and rest assured i'll be taking part in some 'ride outs' this year.

Only a small update, but kind of important all the same. Picked up my rebuilt wheels today, i'm really chuffed with how they have turned out. As well as the new tyres and inner tubes i also renewed the rear sprocket as all the other chain gear is new. looks good, just waiting for the frame etc to return. I know the tyres are 'foo-wang-chang' versions, but these were only £7.75 each and cash is tight at the mo, once these crack / knobbles fall off (which ever comes first) i'll get the genuine ones. Till then feast your eyes on my lovely rims.
