Ooo. You could make a small fortune with them.... but would of got yourself the proper rivetts. Easy to fine and about 5 quid inc post for 7/8 rivetts. And very easy to fit too. Yeah, like I say I may have to redo them with a flexible paint anyway, so I might invest in a set of proper rivets when I reattach them, though I do like the pot rivet look, kinda 70's looking

That's a fantastic effort with the flaps, your not hiding anything and trying to pass them off as nos like some people do when they reproduce parts. If there was a way of shaving off the outer lip they would be near perfect (although I quite like the defining line round the outside. Definitely needs black rivets though as they stand out a mile. Great work and the best effort I've seen so far on reproducing the mudguard flaps. Top work.

P.s I always remove the stands when I do my resto's cos when you paint the frame the paint can get into the both ends of the stand and crack off once the stand is used. Also you can give the stand a good clean and spring a re-grease.

Fantastic progress, this is coming along really well and i love the re-pro flaps. In fact the lime colour looks pretty smart itself. As for removing the stand, it's not such a faff. I used the recommended G clamp BUT i use a small flat headed screwdriver 'bit' to squeeze the collar inwards. It worked a treat and once mine is painted it'll look so much neater. Also the brazed joints look just the same on my Mk2, not the neatest finish. Keep up the good work and another bike that's been saved.

Thanks for the advice guys. Been away the last week so no updates although my brake blocks, decals, and cotter pins arrived whilst I was away so it's full steam ahead.
The frame is being painted next week. Photos to follow.

UPDATE: Been a while I know, but the frame is back from the painters!! Really pleased with the work, the colour is a little darker than I'd hoped but it's he closest match the paintshop could get (I actually prefer it to the original lighter shade) Fitted a few parts to the frame last night (Brake caliper, crank, badge, seat clamp, forks). Decals are next, which will give it its identity back. Happy Days!!
