1978 Mk1 Grifter Restoration

Yeah, I see there's a show at Billing each year (I attend the Vauxhall show there in July) so I'd like to take it there next year and hopefully replace a few parts that are niggling me.

I will ride it, but for now it'll stay in my kitchen/dining room where it's nice and warm (and safe).

And yes....I definitely want a chainguard to finish it of properly.

The wheels actually look a lot better than I thought they would, when you first showed us the rims I thought they would look naff but they look really good. Its a very nice bike well done.

Yeah, they're not too bad, the side wall is a lot deeper than the original rim as you can see but it's a small price to pay for having nice shiny wheels (and they won't rust as they're alloy!!)

Took the Grifter down my local park for some more shots at the weekend, I didn't risk taking it for a 'burn' on the BMX track though!!

Yeah, I rode past two different guys who stopped me with the line ''is that a Raleigh Grifter....not seen one of them since about 1983'' then started taking photos of it on their phone!!
